Eclipse
Design is sometimes the result of inspiration but just as often the result of play. What emerged here from various experimental firings was the interesting and subtle contrast between the half-circle made present through glaze and the half-circle made absent through glazing the space around it. It's almost as though the half-circle is eclipsed in certain tiles.

Designs using Eclipse tiles
The eyes have it uses both the E4 and E5 Eclipse tiles along with the all-over AL1 tile to create a soft, organic design with plenty of colour options.
This design, called Sandwalker, a literal translation of the Dutch word for hourglass, also uses the E4, E5 and AL1 tiles combined with the new E6 and E7 tiles. The inclusion of solid white (or cream) with no screen printing lends the design space and light.
