A wildly colorful backsplash
This colorful kitchen backsplash was a labour of love for these clients. After several design iterations we arrived at the right combination of glaze colours and shapes, all screen-printed because that allows the intensity of the colour and texture of the handmade ceramic tile to work together. The mix of yellow, green, blue and ginger works because of the simplicity of the rest of the kitchen: wooden cabinet doors, a white countertop and light wooden shelving above.
Elements in the kitchen such as the ceramic pot and the cups cleverly echo the colours of the tiles: yellow 006, ginger 008, green 208, blue 2011 and light blue 5051, all on a white PWM base glaze. The result is a unique kitchen where it’s almost impossible to feel down.
